On September 2, 2025, ATESS Power Technology officially entered into a strategic EPC partnership with MBHE African Power Zambia Limited. The signing ceremony marked a significant step toward addressing persistent energy challenges in Zambia’s commercial and industrial (C&I) sector, including grid instability, frequent power outages, and high electricity costs.
This collaboration aims to accelerate the deployment of advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) powered by clean energy throughout Zambia. By integrating ATESS’s cutting-edge BESS technology with MBHE’s strong local sales network and expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), the partnership is positioned to deliver efficient and reliable energy solutions tailored to the Zambian market.
Signing Ceremony between ATESS and MBHE
Zambia’s energy sector has long faced constraints due to its heavy reliance on hydropower, which is increasingly vulnerable to climate variability and drought. Recent data indicates a severe electricity supply-demand gap, with power generation (including imports) at 1,469 MW against a daily demand of 2,800 MW, resulting in a deficit of approximately 47%. This has led to prolonged power cuts, severely disrupting business operations and economic productivity.
In response, the Zambian government has unveiled ambitious energy sector reforms and investment plans. The goal is to increase generation capacity from 3.7 GW in 2023 to 10 GW by 2030 and raise the share of renewables from 3% to 33%.
"We are confident that combining ATESS's innovative BESS products with MBHE's on-the-ground capabilities will significantly enhance energy security and reduce operational costs for Zambian businesses," said Alicia, representative from ATESS. "This partnership directly supports Zambia's goals to bridge its energy gap and foster sustainable industrial growth."
MBHE African Power Zambia Limited echoed this sentiment, emphasizing their commitment to delivering localized service and turnkey clean energy solutions that meet the specific demands of the region.
This alliance is expected to play an important role in strengthening Zambia’s C&I energy infrastructure, promoting sustainable development, and supporting the nation’s goals for increased renewable energy integration.
